Tuğçe is a qualified lawyer with 9 years of post-qualification experience, mainly serving multinational clients. She started her career in Turkey at a tier-one law firm, with a broad focus on corporate and commercial law and litigation, privacy, IP, life sciences, and TMT. She later held the position of senior attorney at PwC specialising in corporate and M&A law, commercial and contracts law, and, privacy, and compliance. Her work also included compliance with environmental legislation in due diligence projects and complex M&A transactions.
She holds and Advanced LL.M. degree from the International Civil and Commercial Law programme of Leiden University.
She has a deep interest in ESG and sustainability matters, and global climate litigation. She specifically based her advanced master’s thesis on “Milieudefensie et al v. Royal Dutch Shell” case, where a Dutch district court ordered the parent of the Shell group to reduce the group’s direct and indirect emissions by at least 45% until 2030, compared to their 2019 levels. She studied this seminal case that was lauded as a global precedent and examined the question whether it can actually be a global precent that can be transferred to other jurisdictions, by employing a comparative perspective through analysis of examples from global climate jurisprudence, including case-law from the Netherlands, the UK, the USA, Canada, Germany, Australia, Pakistan, and South Africa
.
She currently works a company lawyer under the umbrella of Bericorp Financial Services Group. She provides legal services to a plethora of portfolio clients in the form of investments funds, operational, and holding entities, focusing of corporate law, commercial and contracts law, and regulatory compliance; as well as supporting the business and management with in-house legal functions. She also provides legal advice relating to immigration and relocation matters.
