Jishnu Nair is a technology and regulatory lawyer with extensive experience advising on artificial intelligence governance, privacy, cybersecurity regulation, and public sector technology engagements across the Asia-Pacific region. He currently serves as Counsel and ASEAN Market Strategic Advisor at IBM, where he leads risk, compliance, and integrity initiatives across ASEAN markets and serves as the JAPAC ecosystem focal for regional governance and compliance strategy.
Prior to this role, Jishnu advised on regulatory legal and policy matters relating to AI, privacy, and cybersecurity across India, ASEAN, Korea, and Australia, including regulatory engagement and feedback to governments on emerging technology frameworks. His work has focused heavily on the intersection of policy and technology, particularly how governments and institutions can responsibly regulate and procure emerging technologies while enabling innovation and digital transformation.
A recognized subject matter expert on public sector procurement and technology regulation, Jishnu has advised on complex government technology opportunities involving cloud computing, cybersecurity, blockchain, and AI systems. He has also led major cybersecurity investigations across Asia Pacific and advised on integrity, anti-corruption, and compliance frameworks, including FCPA and Indian anti-corruption regulations.
Jishnu writes and speaks regularly on issues relating to AI governance, cybersecurity regulation, privacy, public procurement reform, and digital policy. His published work includes analysis of responsible AI procurement, blockchain and privacy law interoperability, public procurement regulation, and cybersecurity governance in Asia.
He brings a multidisciplinary perspective to discussions on emerging technology governance, with a particular interest in the evolving relationship between law, policy, trust, and technological innovation.
