Mexican National Deported Six Times Receives Nine-Year Prison Sentence for Illegal Reentry

TOPEKA, Kan. – Ysidoro Martinez-Arguello, a 57-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced to 108 months in federal prison for unlawfully reentering the United States after multiple deportations. Court records reveal that Martinez-Arguello pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry following deportation.

Martinez-Arguello’s immigration history includes six deportations: three removals in 2010, followed by additional deportations in 2015, 2016, and most recently in 2023. His criminal record includes seven convictions related to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, spanning from 1993 to 2018.

The defendant came under law enforcement scrutiny after a fatal traffic accident in Manhattan, Kansas, in August 2025. Authorities confirmed that the accident did not involve alcohol or drugs.

At sentencing, U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Kriegshauser highlighted the defendant’s extensive criminal and immigration history. “As Judge Tony Mattivi stated, more lenient sentences have tried and failed for Mr. Martinez-Arguello,” Kriegshauser said. “Removal alone will not keep the public safe given Mr. Martinez-Arguello’s numerous re-entries after deportation and other crimes. Illegal aliens who ignore our laws and harm our communities will be prosecuted before they are removed.”

This case underscores the federal government’s commitment to prosecuting unlawful reentry offenses, particularly when repeated deportations and criminal conduct are involved.

Separately, a federal grand jury in Wichita has indicted a woman for causing a disruption while a passenger on a commercial flight. Additionally, a Kansas man received a 60-month prison sentence for setting multiple fires in Wichita, causing over $100,000 in property damage and ordered to pay restitution.

In another enforcement action, five individuals were sentenced to prison for participating in a fraudulent scheme that defrauded a company of more than $750,000.

These cases collectively reflect ongoing federal efforts to address criminal conduct and protect public safety within Kansas and beyond.
