Local Principal | Singapore
Sanil is a Singapore-based Local Principal at Baker McKenzie’s IP & Technology Practice Group, qualified in Singapore and Australia and certified as a CIPP/A. He specialises in both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property, data protection, cybersecurity, and technology law, advising local and multinational clients across Asia Pacific and globally.
On the IP side, Sanil handles trade marks, copyright, patents, trade secrets, and designs – advising on portfolio management, enforcement, and anti-counterfeiting strategies. On the data protection and cybersecurity side, he assists clients with cross-border data governance, DPIAs, vendor arrangements, incident response, and multi-jurisdictional breach notification. He also regularly advises on privacy and security issues in AI, cloud, and digital transformation contexts.
Sanil is recognised as a Next Generation Partner by Legal 500 Asia Pacific, a Rising Star by IP Stars, and is recommended by World Trademark Review 1000. He has been based in Singapore since 2017, previously practising at Baker McKenzie Sydney and the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission.
