Veteran Trial Lawyer Scott Fiddler Joins Texas Legal Specialization Board of Directors

The Texas Board of Legal Specialization, established in 1974 by the State Bar of Texas, is responsible for certifying attorneys in select areas of law who demonstrate proven expertise and professional accomplishment. TBLS board members are tasked with shaping the standards for legal specialization across the state, making Fiddler’s new role a vital one in maintaining the integrity of the profession.

In his new position, Fiddler will serve a three-year term on the board, participating in policy formation, certification review, and the development of legal specialization standards. His appointment comes at a time when the Board is placing renewed emphasis on advancing board certification across diverse practice areas to meet the evolving demands of clients and legal institutions.

“I am deeply honored to join the TBLS Board of Directors,” Fiddler said in a statement. “Board certification serves as a mark of excellence and a signal to clients and courts alike that an attorney is dedicated to the highest level of practice in their field. I look forward to contributing to the future of legal specialization in Texas.”

Fiddler is himself board certified in both Labor and Employment Law and Civil Trial Law—an uncommon dual distinction that reflects his breadth of legal acumen and trial experience. His peers have consistently recognized him in Texas Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America, and he has tried over 60 jury trials to verdict.

Beyond his litigation achievements, Fiddler is an active voice in legal education, having published numerous articles and presented seminars on trial strategy, employment law, and legal ethics. His appointment to the TBLS Board not only elevates his own influence but also promises to bring a practical, trial-oriented perspective to the certification process.
