By Editorial Team
Nvidia Corp. has reached a settlement with automotive tech supplier Valeo regarding a lawsuit that accused the artificial intelligence chipmaker of using trade secrets stolen by a former Valeo engineer. The engineer allegedly took the code before joining Nvidia and inadvertently displayed it on his screen during a videoconference call with Valeo.
The settlement brings an end to the legal dispute between the two companies, providing resolution to the allegations of stolen driving assist code. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed to the public.
Valeo had filed a lawsuit against Nvidia, claiming that the former Valeo engineer misappropriated confidential information related to driving assist technology. The engineer allegedly shared this information with Nvidia, which led to the lawsuit.
The case was being heard in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Law firms Kirkland & Ellis and Quinn Emanuel represented the parties involved in the lawsuit, with Nvidia Corp. and Valeo SA as the companies at the center of the legal battle.
Both companies have agreed to put the legal matter behind them with this settlement, allowing them to focus on their respective businesses moving forward. The resolution of the lawsuit marks the end of a contentious legal battle over intellectual property rights and trade secrets.
