SHREVEPORT, La. – On October 26 and 29, 2026, United States District Judge S. Maurice Hicks handed down federal prison sentences to three men from the Shreveport–Bossier area for various firearms and drug trafficking offenses.
Marvaeya M. Anderson, 30, of Shreveport, was sentenced on October 29 to 180 months in federal prison followed by four years of supervised release. Anderson pled guilty on July 20, 2026, to possessing a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to court records, on October 12, 2025, a Shreveport Police Department (SPD) officer attempted to stop a black Dodge Challenger. The vehicle fled, prompting a high-speed chase through a residential neighborhood until it crashed. Anderson, a passenger in the vehicle, fled on foot across a field, over a fence, and across all lanes of Interstate 20 before being apprehended.
A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 196 grams of methamphetamine, 20.9 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, a handgun, and two cell phones. Anderson later admitted the narcotics were for personal use. He is a previously convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.
This investigation was conducted jointly by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and SPD. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Allison C. Foster with assistance from Paralegal Specialist Emily Favrot.
On October 26, 2026, Judge Hicks sentenced Kentravious C. Kennedy, 20, of Shreveport, to 46 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. Kennedy pled guilty on May 20, 2026, to possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon.
Court documents reveal that on November 2, 2025, SPD officers responded to a shooting at a local intersection and identified Kennedy as a suspect. Consent was obtained to search his mother’s residence, where officers found a DPMS Panther Arms A15 rifle, an ISSC M22 pistol, multiple loaded magazines—including a 60-round magazine for the rifle—and ammunition.
Photos on Kennedy’s social media accounts showed him posing with firearms matching those recovered. Kennedy admitted to having a prior felony conviction that barred him from legally possessing firearms.
This case was also investigated by ATF and SPD and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Moody with assistance from Legal Assistant Amanda Morgan.
Also on October 26, 2026, Judge Hicks sentenced Jayden Jamond Smith, 20, of Bossier City, to 20 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. Smith pled guilty on June 30, 2026, to illegal possession of a machinegun.
According to court filings, on February 8, 2025, deputies from the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office (BPSO) responded to reports of machinegun fire. Deputies recovered surveillance footage capturing automatic gunfire and identified an orange Dodge Charger involved in the incident.
Detectives traced the vehicle to a local high school student who admitted to picking up Smith that day. The student stated that Smith possessed a Glock equipped with a machinegun conversion device (switch) and fired several automatic rounds into wooded areas between houses.
Consent to search the student’s phone revealed video footage of Smith firing the weapon in automatic mode, along with text messages discussing the firearm’s performance.
This investigation was conducted by ATF and BPSO and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Moody with assistance from Legal Assistant Amanda Morgan.
