Actress and singer Cher has been granted approximately $187,000 in royalties by a California federal judge following a ruling that determined the funds were improperly retained by her late ex-husband and former musical collaborator Sonny Bono’s estate.
The decision, issued by a California federal judge, concluded that the royalties rightfully belonged to Cher and had been wrongly withheld by Sonny Bono’s estate.
Cher and Sonny Bono were known for their musical partnership and hits such as “I Got You Babe” during the 1960s. The legal dispute over royalties arose after Sonny Bono’s passing.
The ruling in Cher’s favor came as a significant victory in the ongoing legal battle over the distribution of Sonny Bono’s estate.
Cher’s legal representation in the case included law firms Davis Wright Tremaine and Donahue Fitzgerald.
