DOD Contractor Accuses Engineer of Stealing 2,000 Files on Last Day

By Editorial Team

A defense contractor, Competitive Range Solutions LLC, has filed a lawsuit in Virginia federal court against a field engineer. The contractor alleges that the engineer violated the Defend Trade Secrets Act by downloading over 2,000 confidential documents on his last day of work, after accepting a job with a competitor.

The lawsuit, which was filed by Cordatis LLP, involves the Defense Information Systems Agency and is currently before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

The complaint filed by Competitive Range Solutions LLC accuses the engineer of unauthorized access and misappropriation of trade secrets. The company claims that the engineer downloaded the confidential files with the intention of using them at his new place of employment, a competitor of Competitive Range Solutions LLC.

The case highlights the importance of protecting intellectual property and trade secrets in the defense industry. The unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information can have serious consequences for companies, including financial losses and damage to their competitive advantage.

Competitive Range Solutions LLC is seeking damages for the alleged theft of trade secrets and is pursuing legal action to prevent the engineer from using the confidential information in his new position.
