2nd Circuit Upholds $286K Attorney Fee Award for Childish Gambino’s Attorneys

By Editorial Team

The Second Circuit has affirmed a $286,000 attorney fee award granted to the legal team representing rapper Childish Gambino and his record label in a case involving allegations that part of the hit song “This Is America” was plagiarized from another artist’s track.

The decision by the Second Circuit validates the substantial attorney fees awarded to the attorneys representing Childish Gambino, also known as Donald Glover, and his record label in successfully defending against claims of copyright infringement.

The case stemmed from accusations by another rapper that a portion of “This Is America” was copied from his own work. However, the court ruled in favor of Childish Gambino, finding no merit in the plagiarism claims.

Attorneys from law firms such as Jonathan D. Davis PC, Pryor Cashman, and Quinn Emanuel represented the interests of Childish Gambino and his record label, ROC Nation LLC, throughout the litigation process.

The decision by the Second Circuit to uphold the $286,000 attorney fee award highlights the successful defense mounted by Childish Gambino’s legal team and underscores the importance of protecting intellectual property rights in the music industry.
